MANILA, Philippines — Cyrus Cuenco drained a dagger three to allow Mapua University pick up its third-straight win at the expense of Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), 82-79, in the second round of the NCAA 100 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Tuesday. Tied at 79-all in the last 33.2 seconds of the fourth quarter, Cuenco fired beyond the arc to give Mapua the lead, 81-79, with 15.2 seconds remaining. EAC tried to send the match into overtime, but the time was not in their favor as King Gurtiza was forced to shoot a Hail Mary. Clint Escamis led Mapua with 23 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Cuenco and Chris Hubilla both chipped in 16 points, each. EAC's Harvey Pagsanjan made 17 points, while King Gurtiza added 14. Mapua improved to an 8-3 win-loss record, while EAC tallied a 5-6 slate.
