The Game Show Trolley Launches Live Game Show Tours in Savannah

Nov 7, 2026

The Game Show Trolley, founded by former tour guide Garrett Zajac, turns Savannah's historic square layout into a live 75-minute game show on a trolley.

Savannah, Georgia, United States, November 7, 2026 -- The Game Show Trolley has launched in Savannah, Georgia, offering a 75-minute trolley tour built as a live 1960s-style game show. Founded by local tour guide and team-building facilitator Garrett Zajac, the experience was inspired by the city's original plan, which Zajac describes as a game board. Guests are divided into teams, given buzzers, and asked to compete in trivia while the trolley moves through the Historic District.

A City Plan That Looks Like a Game Board

In 1733, James Oglethorpe laid out Savannah as a grid of neighborhoods, each built around a public square. Twenty-two of those squares remain today, and the plan is now 293 years old. The layout is among the best-known features of the city and a central subject of most historical tours.

Zajac was explaining that history to a visitor when the comparison came to him. "I was explaining how Oglethorpe laid out the city, and I heard myself say it: Savannah is a game board. Then 'Savannah Squares' popped into my head like a game show marquee. After that, the show pretty much designed itself."

The idea shaped both the concept and the setting. The Historic District serves as the playing field, and the squares provide the backdrop for each round of questions.

From Tour Guide to Trolley Builder

Before starting The Game Show Trolley, Zajac worked as a tour guide for several Savannah companies. He has also spent the last eight years running team-building events. Those two careers shaped the format, which combines local history with group competition.

"Introducing someone to a city is special. I did it for other companies for years, and I wanted to make it my own and make it a lot more fun," Zajac said.

Zajac built much of the trolley's interior himself. That includes the benches and the host stand, and he wired the buzzers by hand. The trolley seats 24 guests.

"I've spent eight years in team building. A show that brings people together just made sense," Zajac said.

How the Show Works on Board

On a typical trolley tour, a driver narrates while passengers watch the city pass by. The Game Show Trolley uses a different arrangement. The host does not drive. Instead, a game show host, known on board as Fancy Parker, stands at the front of the trolley facing the guests and runs the show.

Guests are split into two teams, Team Biscuit and Team Gravy. The teams sit across from each other, each member holding a buzzer, while the trolley travels through the Historic District. The 75-minute program includes trivia, friendly competition, and Savannah history.

"On most trolley tours, you're a passenger. On ours, you're a player," Zajac said.

Winners receive recognition in the form of winner stickers, a trophy photo, and a pick from the prize wall. The format is designed so that at the end of the ride, one team leaves as the winner.

Guests Compete Head to Head

The seating arrangement places teams head to head, which changes how groups interact. Strangers often begin exchanging playful banter, and friends or family members can find themselves on opposing sides.

One early example involved a group of women visiting from Texas. They signed up for the tour without much planning, with the goal of seeing the city. When they learned they would be seated across from each other and competing, the mood on board shifted quickly.

"They signed up because they just wanted to see the city. Then they found out they'd be sitting across from each other, playing against each other, and that's when it got rowdy," Zajac said. According to Zajac, the group enjoyed the experience.

A Format for Children and Adults

The show is designed for mixed-age groups. On one ride, an eight-year-old won the lightning round for his entire team by correctly identifying the hottest planet in the solar system. And no, it’s not Mercury. “Kids and grown-ups play on the same level here," Zajac said.

The trivia mixes local history with general knowledge questions, which allows participants of different ages to contribute to the team score. Families can join the public tours alongside other visitors, and there’s no need to know Savannah history ahead of time.

Public Tours, Private Tours, and Corporate Events

The Game Show Trolley launched in October 2026 and offers several booking options. Public tours allow individuals, couples, families, and small groups to reserve seats. Private tours are available for groups that want the full trolley for a celebration or gathering. Corporate events use the format as a team-building activity, drawing on Zajac's background in that field.

For groups larger than the trolley's 24 seats, the company offers an on-site version of the game show. In this format, the host brings the game show experience to a venue chosen by the group. This option is intended for larger corporate gatherings, parties, and similar events.

Tour information is available through The Game Show Trolley website, with additional business content on Instagram and Facebook, Tripadvisor or contact [email protected].

Seeing the City by Playing It

The company's central idea is that visitors can learn about Savannah by taking part rather than only listening. The squares, streets, and landmarks of the Historic District are part of the game, and the history that Oglethorpe set in motion in 1733 remains the foundation of the experience.

Zajac said the goal is for guests to enjoy the city regardless of the final score. Win or lose, riders see the Historic District and spend 75 minutes engaged with the people around them.

"In Savannah, fun is just a square away," Zajac said.

Jayson Tatum scores 34 as Celtics demolish the Hornets 119-80 in NBA Cup play

CHARLOTTE — Jayson Tatum had 34 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, Derrick White added 18 points and the Boston Celtics demolished the Charlotte Hornets 119-80 on Friday night for their seventh win in eight games. Boston shot 17 of 31 from 3-point range in the first half to build a 31-point lead and improved to 2-0 in NBA Cup play. The Hornets fell to 0-2. Naz Reid had 14 points for Charlotte, which has lost six straight since coach Charles Lee benched Reid - the team’s biggest offseason acquisition - in the second half of a game against the Detroit Pistons because he did not meet "team standards.” This one was over early. Tatum erupted for 18 points in the first quarter on three 3s and White added 10 as the Celtics bolted to a 40-20 lead. Boston made 9 of 17 3s in the first quarter. Charlotte couldn't do anything right. The Hornets shot 28% from the field in the opening half while turning the ball over eight times. Tatum remained in the game until the final minute of the third quarter with Boston up 42 as the Celtics padded their point differential numbers for the NBA Cup. He drew "MVP!” chants from the pro-Celtics crowd after drawing what appeared to be a shooting foul as he swished a 3 from 33 feet. But the basket was waived off after officials ruled the foul was on the floor. The Hornets played without starters Kon Knueppel and Moussa Diabate, and Brandon Miller left the game in the second quarter with right groin soreness and did not return. Miller was 3 of 10 from the field with eight points before departing and appeared frustrated at times in the first half as Boston pressured him relentlessly. Lee did not offer a timetable for Knueppel's return after last year's NBA rookie of the year runner-up reinjured his hamstring on Wednesday night at Brooklyn. It was Knueppel's first game of the season.

Raptors beat the Bucks 121-107 in NBA Cup game

MILWAUKEE — Alijah Martin scored a career-high 27 points and RJ Barrett also had 27 as the short-handed Toronto Raptors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 121-107 in an NBA Cup game Friday night. Toronto outscored Milwaukee 70-47 in the second half to improve to 1-1 while the Bucks fell to 0-1 in NBA Cup group play. They're part of East Group A along with Detroit, Orlando and Brooklyn. The Raptors were playing without seven-time all-NBA selection Kawhi Leonard (knee), two-time All-Star Scottie Barnes (groin) or starting guard Immanuel Quickley (hamstring). Leonard missed his seventh straight game. Martin picked up the slack by shooting 9 of 11 overall and 6 of 7 from 3-point range. He entered Friday having gone 6 of 27 on 3-point attempts in his career. The 2025 second-round pick from Florida hadn’t scored more than nine points in any of his previous 30 career games. Martin had totaled 23 points in seven games this season before his breakthrough Friday. Toronto's Jamal Shead added a career-high 16 assists along with 10 points. Collin Murray-Boyles and Jakob Poeltl had 19 points each. Milwaukee's Tyler Hero had 23 points and 10 assists. Bucks rookie Brayden Burries had 21 points and 11 rebounds to set career highs in both categories. The Bucks (1-8) are off to their slowest start since 1993-94, when they lost 10 of their first 11 games and went on to finish 20-62. After trailing by as many as 15 points, Toronto (5-4) took its first lead on a Martin 3-pointer that made it 71-69 with 5:41 left in the third quarter. Tyler Herro put Milwaukee back in front by hitting his first 3-pointer of the night 22 seconds later. Herro’s 3-pointer started a 10-2 run that put Milwaukee ahead 79-73, but Toronto scored the next nine points and pulled ahead for good on Allen Graves’ three-point play with 2:17 left in the third.

Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis steps away from the NBA to focus on undisclosed health issue

SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis said Friday he is stepping away from basketball due to health issues. The 7-foot-2 (2.18m) Latvian, who began his NBA career with New York in 2015, has not played this season for the Warriors telling the team he would not report just before pre-season workouts began. "This season I was really looking forward to running it with this group, but as I ramped up, my body didn't respond the way I anticipated," Porzingis said in a statement posted on social media. "I'm doing good, but I know what it takes, and I'm not where I want to be to perform at the level that I expect from myself. "At this point, I've made the decision to prioritize my health and step away from the game I love." Porzingis, 31, helped the Boston Celtics win the 2024 NBA title. He was traded to Atlanta in 2025, the same year he was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a neurological disease. Porzingis did not mention POTS in talking about why he is stepping away, nor did he say he was retiring from the sport. The Hawks traded Porzingis to the Warriors this past February and after playing 15 games last season for Golden State he signed a two-year deal worth $40 million in June, although multiple reports say the team is not paying him while he is away. "In this situation, I want to show the utmost respect for the Golden State Warriors and work with them to find a solution that makes sense," Porzingis said. Porzingis has been in contact with Warriors medical personnel as the team has started the NBA season 6-3 and is on a six-game win streak. Porzingis has averaged 19.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 blocked shots over 10 seasons with New York, Dallas, Washington, Boston, Atlanta and Golden State.
