Wilbert Ross dreams of having multiple hit songs

Wilbert Ross continues to enjoy one success after another in his showbiz career, from online series and movies to concerts. In fact, following the success of his solo anniversary concert WRiten By, he will take the show on tour to Davao on October 25; and Sta. Rosa, Laguna, on November 28. “I'm just being grateful po sa blessings talaga. Nagte-thank you lang ako sa Lord at sa mga taong dahilan kung bakit meron akong nitong blessings na 'to,” Wilbert said when GMANetwork.com asked him how he was taking these successive successes. He added, “Lagi ko pong sinisipagan. Kahit na medyo nag-o-overlap na, nandun pa rin ako sa giving my best at anything, na hindi ako pwedeng, 'Ah, busy ako sa film, kaya napapabayaan ko 'to.' I'm always giving my best sa lahat ng ginagawa ko.” Despite these achievements, Wilbert said he has no plans of taking a break just yet. He explained, “Kasi ang tagal kong hinintay 'to. Hindi ko rin masasabi kung mag-pause ka, makakabalik ka. Kailangan strike while the iron is hot. “Pero siyempre, ang ginagawa ko is mina-maximize ko ang rest na puwede ko pong magawa. Maybe, after all these na sunud-sunod [na projects], puwede akong magpahinga. “Kailangan kong magsulat ng bagong kanta if ever, magwo-workout ako nang magwo-workout, para pagbalik ko another relaunching na naman.” He added, “Mahirap sabihin na sobrang dami kasi blessing po siya, e. As long as kaya naman ng katawan at nagagawa ko po, at hindi naman po ako masyadong nako-compromise ang quality ng art ko, kaya ko naman po. “Kasi, kapag sa tingin ko, sobra na o hirap na hirap na ako, magsasabi naman po ako.” Wilbert believes he still has opportunities to surpass what he has achieved in his showbiz career, particularly as a music artist. “Sa tingin ko po meron pa, e, kasi wala pa akong hit song talaga. So, I will keep writing songs. Sulat lang po ako nang sulat. “Baka yun ang isa sa mga kailangan kong maabot—magkaroon ng multiple hit songs or awards from reputable award-giving bodies—before ko masabi na successful na talaga ako. For now, I'm still working hard, on the way po doon para masabi ko ang bagay na 'yon.”

Police ring up 33 arrests for cross-border card thefts

Oct 24, 2026

Thirty-three people have been arrested after Hong Kong and Shenzhen officers busted a cross-boundary credit card fraud syndicate that allegedly targeted SAR residents travelling to Shenzhen. The gang is believed to be linked to at least 60 fraud cases involving amount of more than HK$1.8 million, according to the police. Chief inspector Fung Chi-tat said police had received multiple complaints from residents whose credit cards were stolen and used to buy mobile phones. “Investigations showed that these people had been to popular tourist spots or entertainment venues in Shenzhen but had not checked up on their belongings at those places,” he said. “It was only after they were informed by their banks of unusual, large-value credit card transactions that they realised their cards had been stolen and used.” Superintendent Tsang Chun-kit said the gang stole credit cards from Hong Kong residents in Shenzhen and brought the cards back to the SAR immediately to shop at different stores. The suspects would then resell the items the same day before fleeing Hong Kong. Tsang added that the syndicate had mistakenly believed they could evade arrest by fleeing the SAR. However, he said, the Hong Kong police force has been in close communication with mainland law enforcement authorities. Sixteen of the arrests – 11 men and five women aged between 17 and 45 – were made in Hong Kong while Public Security Bureau officers in Shenzhen picked up 11 men and six women aged 36 to 56.
