Flying Titans prevail over Highrisers in 4 sets
MANILA, Philippines — The Choco Mucho Flying Titans prevailed over the Galeries Tower Highrisers in four sets, 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-15, in the 2026-27 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference-Siklab Series on Tuesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
Choco Mucho improved to a 3-1 win-loss card to enjoy a solo third place in the team standings behind leaders Nxled and Creamline, both unbeaten in three games.
Galeries Tower, on the other hand, is still searching for its first victory in the tournament, falling to a 0-4 card.
Up by two sets to one, the Flying Titans held an 18-9 cushion in the fourth frame, capped by Maddie Madayag’s service ace and Lorene Toring’s kill block.
Galeries Tower’s Jean Asis scored after a through-the-block hit, but Toring served as a fortress for Choco Mucho to widen the gap to 19-10.
The Highrisers ignited a 3-0 rally courtesy of Alyssa Bertolano and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas to cut the deficit to six, 19-13.
But Eya Laure and Caitlin Viray cut the momentum short for the Highrisers with back-to-back slams, 21-13.
Maizo-Pontillas made an attack error, but Erika Raagas made up for it, 22-14.
However, with Choco Mucho holding a wide gap, Bertolano swung a hit, but Laure and Viray made the finishing touches for a 25-15 victory.
Choco Mucho libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig took the player of the game plum after 20 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions.
“Well, at first our problem was our offensive side in the first set, and what we did was remember how we played in our previous games in order to get the remaining sets in the match,” head coach Dante Alinsurin said.
Choco Mucho was led by Laure who finished with 18 points while Viray and Sisi Rondina-Rosales scored 11 points each.
Middle-blocker Toring joined the double-digit party with 10 points.
Choco Mucho will next face Nxled while Galeries Tower looks to score its first win when it clashes with Akari on Nov. 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
