Leesburg, VA Teen Girl Residential Mental Health Treatment: Program Expands

Oct 23, 2026

Mission Prep has expanded its residential mental health program for teen girls in Leesburg, Virginia, adding specialized treatment options within a family-centered, evidence-based care model.

San Juan Capistrano, United States, October 23, 2026 /PressCable/ -- Mission Prep has announced expanded services at its residential mental health facility in Leesburg, Virginia. The eight-bed home serves teen girls between the ages of 12 and 17 who are managing conditions including anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, and mood disorders, giving Northern Virginia families access to specialized adolescent care close to home.

The expansion comes as Virginia continues to face significant gaps in youth mental health care access. According to the Virginia Health Care Foundation, 93 of the state’s 133 localities were already federally designated as Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas, a figure that has since grown to include all 133 as of November 2023.

That local shortage reflects a broader global pattern. According to the World Health Organization, approximately one in seven adolescents aged 10 to 19 worldwide lives with a mental health condition, accounting for 15% of the disease burden in that age group. The WHO also identifies suicide as the third leading cause of death among those aged 15 to 29.

Against that backdrop, Mission Prep describes timely, specialized care as vital for teen girls and the families supporting them. At its Leesburg location, the weekly treatment structure includes two individual therapy sessions, two clinical mentorship sessions, and weekly family appointments, with additional psychiatric visits built into the schedule.

The center’s clinicians draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These are complemented by mindfulness practice, art therapy, equine therapy, yoga, and experiential group activities designed specifically for teen girls.

Mission Prep’s broader treatment philosophy centers on the family system rather than the teen alone. The goal, the team said, is to build change that holds up once a young person returns home. Weekly family sessions are built into the program to keep parents engaged throughout treatment, rather than limiting their involvement to updates from the sidelines.

The Leesburg facility is part of Mission Prep’s broader network of residential programs for adolescents, with locations in California, Minnesota, and Virginia. Each site follows the same commitment to evidence-based therapy and family involvement.

Russia to host 2030 world weightlifting champs in Olympic federation first

PARIS, France — Moscow was announced Sunday as host of the 2030 world weightlifting championships, the sport's governing body becoming the first Olympic federation to hand Russia global staging rights since 2022. No world championships in an Olympic sport, summer or winter, have been held in Russia since the start of the war against Ukraine. The 2025 world swimming champs, initially attributed to the Russian city of Kazan, were moved to Singapore. "Concerning the IWF (Senior) World Championships in 2029, it will be staged in Ahmedabad (India), and Moscow (Russia) will host the 2030 edition," the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) said in a statement. IWF general secretary Jose Quinones added that "all the bids we received were excellent and we are sure that the championships in your respective countries will be a huge success". In a post on Telegram, Russian Weightlifting Federation president Aleksandr Vinokurov thanked the IWF "for their trust", with the 2030 world champs also serving as a qualifying event for the 2032 Olympic Games. "Russia has all the necessary experience and capabilities to host competitions of the highest level," he said. "Moscow has repeatedly staged major international sporting events and has modern infrastructure." The federation toasted its success in snagging the hosting rights. "The Russian Weightlifting Federation is the first Olympic sports federation to succeed in bringing a top-level official competition back to the country in many years," it said. The decision to name Moscow as the host is a ground-breaking one and comes in the wake of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announcing a pathway for Russian athletes to compete in international competition. A state-sponsored doping program implemented, according to the World Anti-Doping Agency, at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, and the assault on Ukraine launched by President Vladimir Putin in 2022 resulted in Russians competing in various guises at international competition, most recently as Individual Neutral Athletes. However, on July 7 Russia came in from the cold when the IOC eased restrictions on Russian athletes and opened a pathway for them to compete in qualifying events for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. A furious Ukraine filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) requesting that the IOC decision be annulled.
