London, United Kingdom - July 12, 2018 /NewsNetwork/ —

Fisher IT Asset Consulting (FisherITS) are pleased to announce that we are partnering with The ITAM Review to deliver ‘The IBM Licensing Essentials’ training course. Eric Chiu has worked with The ITAM Review to deliver this course as part of The ITAM Review new LISA program (on-demand online training). Eric Chiu, Chairman of FisherITS, is a veteran of IBM Licensing, having been involved with the development of IBM Software Compliance Programmes.

This training will provide the student with an introduction to the various licensing models and metrics that govern the licensing of IBM products. The course also looks at how IBM licensing fits into and impacts upon Software Asset Management.

In this ‘self-paced’ course, Eric presents ‘real world’ scenarios on how IBM Licensing can impact an organisation’s IBM License Entitlement and Compliance position. Eric has therefore made sure that the course content provides a detailed approach to mastering one of the currently most complicated vendor licensing programs.

FisherITS are software vendor independent and are not an IBM software license reseller. FisherITS are very proud of the fact that we are specialists in the areas of IBM Licensing, Compliance and the broader subject of IT Asset Management and Software Asset Manager across all of the major software vendors. FisherITS therefore tried to encompass these attributes in the approach to the course content.

Who Should Attend?

This training is suitable for any professional who is involved in the management of IBM licences. The IBM Licensing Essentials Course is ideal for IT professionals who:

· Are new to IBM licensing.

· Need to understand more about IBM volume and product licensing agreements.

· Want to learn more about how IBM licensing fits into and impacts upon the wider Software Asset Management function within IT.

· Want to take the cost out of their business by optimising their IBM license assets.

What is covered in the Course?

The IBM License Essentials Course will comprehensively cover the following core subjects:

· Versions of IBM Agreements and Contracts.

· Introduction to the IBM Licensing Entitlement Metrics.

· Processor Value Units (PVU) licensing and understanding of products related to license.

· Resource Value Units (RVU) licensing and understanding of products related to license.

· Understanding Sub-Capacity Licensing.

· User Based Licensing and Products related to this type of license.

· How to apply reconcile proof of entitlement.

· What is ILMT and why is important?

How will the Student benefit from the Course?

The course is unique since the student will have lifetime online access to the course content following subscription to the LISA Service. All course materials are provided on access to the online portal. Attendees will also receive a certificate on completion of the training course.

The course objective is to provide the student with a rich understanding of the various types of IBM agreements. The Student will therefore be able to understand how to apply the most common licensing metrics and the attributes of those licenses in any IBM environment. This includes the complexity and the impact of a Virtual Infrastructure on the IBM License estate. Therefore, at the end of the course, the Student will be able to apply their new IBM licensing knowledge to real world IBM Licensing challenges.

Olympic champ Balandin considers quitting after Asian Games

Aug 21, 2018

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Kazakhstan's only Olympic swimming champion Dmitriy Balandin is contemplating retiring from the sport, possibly as soon as this week. The 23-year-old has been struggling with injuries and form since his breakthrough win in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and could quit competitive swimming once he finishes racing at the Asian Games, which are taking place in Indonesia. "I don't know what my life is going to be after the Asian Games," he said. "Maybe I finish swimming after Asian Games, but I don't know now. "Really, I am a little bit...

'Crazy Rich Asians' hoopla elicits mixed feelings in Asia

Aug 21, 2018

SINGAPORE — The craze for "Crazy Rich Asians" is hitting Asia, with a premiere in Singapore followed by openings in several neighboring countries later this week. Much of the over-the-top romantic comedy was set in this wealthy city-state. As the stars streamed past flashing lights down the red carpet Tuesday evening, local fans and tourists swarmed around them taking photos and asking for selfies. The movie is expected to draw enthusiastic crowds across Asia after its box-office bonanza in the U.S. Directed by John M. Chu, the film was adapted from Singaporean author Kevin Kwan's best-selling novel of the same...

Clarkson's Philippines edged by Zhou's China at Asian Games

Aug 21, 2018

JAKARTA, Indonesia — The Philippines was vastly improved with Cleveland Cavaliers guard Jordan Clarkson added to the team to face China at the Asian Games. Just one problem. Although the U.S.-born Clarkson led all scorers with 28 points, he had to sit out much of the fourth quarter with a cramp in his right thigh. That was the opening China needed, winning 82-80 in Tuesday's Group D game. Clarkson returned to play the last few minutes of the quarter, and the Philippines Paul Dalistan missed a 3-point shot with about five seconds left, which could have sealed an upset against...

Liu sets world record; Sun and Ikee keep collecting gold

Aug 21, 2018

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Liu Xiang set her first world record in an event she was only doing for a bit of fun. The 21-year-old prefers freestyle sprinting so she was very surprised when she heard the public announcer at the Asian Games yelling out the two sweetest words that every international swimmer understands regardless of their language. And when she turned around to check the electronic scoreboard she saw that it was her who had just broken the world record for the women's 50-meters backstroke. She had powered down the pool in a slick 26.98 seconds to take 0.08 off...

Liu breaks world record; Indian teen wins at Asian Games

Aug 21, 2018

JAKARTA, Indonesia — After sinking a world record set in the so-called buoyancy era, Liu Xiang is ready for her main event. Liu's record in the women's 50-meter backstroke seemed to come out of nowhere at the Asian Games on Tuesday, when the 21-year-old Chinese swimmer won the gold medal in 26.98 seconds. "Because my main focus is on freestyle, I didn't have any pressure," Liu said through a translator. "I could concentrate on my own performance. Liu's time broke the record of 27.06 set by Chinese swimmer Zhao Jing at the 2009 world championships in Rome. That mark was...
